WHY I CAN'T BLOG ABOUT THAT

Last night I had a GREAT idea for a blog post. I had some 'new stuff' going on in my life that I wanted to share, and I was actually pretty excited about it. It's been a while since I had a topic that I was genuinely excited to blog about.

I realise now though, that I can't blog about it. I've been on Xanga for about 4 1/2 years now, and I've made some good friends while I've been here. I mean, if it weren't for Xanga, I wouldn't have a fake internet husband!!

But now that I actually KNOW some of you and consider you my friends, I have to take into consideration your feelings when I blog about things. Xanga is no longer this anonymous place for me to word vomit what's going on in my life. It's become more of a public journal that my friends can read. I don't want to go on and on and on about something if I know that it'll hurt one of you all. I'm a real people person and I don't want to hurt ANYONE, especially any of my Xanga babies (yes, I totally stole the phrase 'Xanga babies' from my Tasty friend).

With that in mind, let me just say a few things...when it rains, it pours...and if you like someone, for the love of God, just tell them....don't wait six months, it makes EVERYTHING more complicated (that's as much for me as it is anyone else...le sigh).

It kinda makes me wanna cry. Actually...this time of year is always horribly depressing for me. Makes me miss my parents a lot more than usual. It reminds me how alone I really am in the world. I have no one...no one who really cares about me...no one who's there to hold my hand when I'm scared...no one to wipe the tears from my face...

Spending lots of time and energy writing a post that's very meaningful to me...that no one gives a shit about.

Then spending 30 seconds 'writing' a post that's simply some silly video...that everyone and their grandmother loves that gets 5,498 views.

Le sigh.

A blog's only fun if people will interact with you. What's the point in showing everyone and their grandmother my heart and soul if no one gives a shit about it? I mean, I'd still write about it...but I'd just keep it for me.

Do you think someone could have more than one soulmate?

I thought that I'd write a post with links to LGBT news/media/entertainment resources. Basically these are the sites that I use when keeping up-to-date with queer news.

Being the entertainment obsessed lesbian that I am, let's start with AfterEllen. Think of it as sort of a mash-up of 'People' and 'Entertainment Weekly' with a dash of Facebook geared towards lesbians and bisexual women. The boys have their own version known as AfterElton. I actually have an account on AfterElton so I can post comments on the 'Glee' recaps.

For more 'serious' news of concern to the LGBT community, Towleroad is my first stop. There are lots of great posts dealing with current events, especially in the political realm. Andy is also good about throwing in the occasional cute or 'warm & fuzzy' story. In a lot of ways, it's like a queer-leaning CNN.

If you prefer your LGBT activism related news with a good bit of snark, then Good As You is what you're looking for. Similar to Towleroad, but with 47 times as much snark.

For those of you in the UK, you might want to check out Pink News. It's similar to Towleroad (though in all honesty, no where near as good), but focuses primarily on issues specifically related to the UK.

And of course I'd be remiss to not mention Dorothy Snarker. A gay gal's guide to pop culture. Why let the boys have all the fun? is sort of the 'motto' of her blog, and I couldn't agree more with it

I am utterly convinced that I could disappear off the face of the Earth, and it wouldn't matter to anyone. It wouldn't REALLY matter to anyone.

Well, there was her...but she lied to me.

I learned my lesson.

Then there was that new one...but it turns out that I was just her pet project. Awesome. I guess that you get a lot of brownie points for turning a lezzie straight. *shrugs*

She says one thing, but does another.

She fucks up just like I do, but the difference is that I'm honest from the beginning about how I'm horrid. She's a lying bitch. She talks the talk, but has never walked the walk.

Perhaps today I shall slice & dice until all the pain leaves my body.

And of course by pain I mean blood.

It would break her heart though, because she would lose her pet project.

I'm such a selfish bitch though, that I just might do it.
